Chapter 9: Film and TV

Image
Chapter 9: Overview "Like other disciplines of the humanities, film, television, and video are vehicles of creative expression" (p.1) https://www.istockphoto.com/vector/creative-template-for-cinema-poster-banner-with-ticket-3d-glasses-and-clapboard-gm2159065211-579672617?utm_source=pixabay&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_campaign=SRP_vector_sponsored&utm_content=https%3A%2F%2Fpixabay.com%2Fvectors%2Fsearch%2Ffilm%2F&utm_term=movie I like this quote because I think that film and television are one of the biggest forms of expression. It is a different form of creativity, and it is something that is timeless. Which makes it that much more important. Film and television allow us to get a motion picture of events. Whether fictional or non-fictional, it is a very big portion of how we view society, and the world around us, When it comes to films, most people can all relate to something that was their favorite, or maybe even something that was relevant to their lives. Rela...

Chapter 10: Religion

Image
Chapter 10: Overview "There is a disagreement about the origin of the book; whether the writer were putting down the literal word of God; how certain words should be translated; and whether the book is to be read as history, legend, or literature." https://pixabay.com/vectors/angel-doodle-god-christmas-belief-7912273/ I like this quote because I can understand the logic behind it all. It shows how people may feel about the Bible. I honestly feel like it is very similar to how non-believers feel about religion. I feel like the Bible has so many great stories, and I know that all religions have their own form of history, and based off the stories, we make purpose to our own lives, and follow examples of those stories for our own paths. I can understand how this can be a disagreeing topic because as we learn in this chapter, there is so many stories that are hard to believe to be real unless you actually have a solid belief system. I can see how it can be controversial of how i...

Chapter 16: Freedom

Image
Chapter 16: Overview "For most major religions, a central question is whether the actions of humankind are undertaken freely or are part of an overall plan of destiny created by God" https://pixabay.com/vectors/bible-book-holy-scripture-faith-5520815/      I like this quote because I do believe this is a true question in freedom of religion. Many belief systems allow us to be able to get insight on who we are but also what we want to connect with on a higher level. I think that our actions as humans are always going to be in question of whether we are moving off of our own free mind or is what we feel and do based off destiny. I think that many times when it comes to religion we do have a calling for destiny. I feel like most religions have that same belief. It is something that I think overall is one of the main focus's of religion.       I feel like actions of human kind are undertaken freely, however I do feel like whatever is going to happen ...

Chapter 15: Nature

Image
Chapter 15: Overview " Before the coming of civilization, human beings living in nature were free to roam where they wanted, settle where they wanted, and create a social order that suited their needs"(p.6) https://pixabay.com/vectors/primroses-primulas-flowers-wood-6282676/      I like this quote because it is an example of how life seemed to be much more simple. As we become more modernized it shows that we have made so many changes about how we are with nature, and how we are with civilization. Before many people were able to settle where ever they wanted, and it does not seem to be chaotic or any issues with sharing land, nature, and territory. There has been a progressive change in social order that now makes that type of living impossible. Now we need to be able to claim land, and nature in different ways.       There are also many differences in how to settle into homes, and settle into how we now live in nature. I think that it seems to b...

Chapter 14: Life Affirmation

Image
Chapter 14: Overview "One reason for despising the thought of life's termination is the importance placed on self. It seems impossible that there should ever come a time when that self is nonexistent." https://pixabay.com/illustrations/affirmations-appreciations-441457/      This is my favorite quote of the chapter. I feel like humans will always struggle with life termination. We have a hard time with separation of that person. I think that with every life termination, there is always going to be grieving, and sometimes it can feel impossible to move forward without that person. It is hard to accept that that person is non existent. I think its even harder for a person to feel like they can move on with their daily life, depending on who that person is to you. A persons loss will always be significant to everything a person does. Also, the level of that persons role in a individuals life will be different. For example, the loss of a child, parent, grandparent, or s...

Chapter 11: Morality

Image
Chapter 11:Overview "People are different. What's good for one may not be good for another." (p.4) https://pixabay.com/vectors/right-wrong-typography-text-8078091/     I think this quote explains morality perfectly, people are all different, and what one may thing is something good, will not be the same as another. I think people are always going to see what will work best for them, and everything will not be the same for the next person. It is all going to be according to what is the perspective of a person. I think most choices are going to be motivated for the better of self. Sometimes we see others striving and successful. We see something working for them, we start to think the same thing will work for us.       I think just because something works for one person does not mean that is the same fit for you. Thats why people say the phrase " the grass aint always greener". Which to me means it might look like its good for them, but sometimes things...

Chapter 6: Music

Image
Chapter 6: Overview "Harmony, indicates a connection between music and the structure of the universe"(p.2) https://pixabay.com/illustrations/love-heart-music-grades-clef-1077816/          I think this quote allows us to know the exact connection for what music is. It gives us an idea of what a person actually feels when listening to music. I think the harmony is also a portion of music we remember the most. Gets repeated and it allows us to be able to connect with the music and the universe. Listening to music is always going to be interpreted differently, however the harmony, as the quote mentions will be the part of universal connection with the universe.       It creates structure to good music. Even when we harmonize a song without any lyrics, its usually an indication of the basis of the entire song. I think this shows although music is very broad, it will still have a harmony, and that will be received universally no matter what b...
